Association Questions
Q. Is VIWIA a charity or non-profit?
A. The Vancouver Island Wedding Industry Association is a Canadian non-profit corporation filed June 7, 2017 (1026988-3) and a BC Extraprovincial Non Share Corporation under the BC Societies Act as of June 16, 2017 (XS0067639) - this means, simply, that all funds must be used for the good of the Industry it represents.
Q. Who are on the Vancouver Island Wedding Industry Association Board?
A. VOLUNTEERS!! The Non Profit Board was registered in 2017 when Laura Kalcsa, who had begun the Awards in 2013 along with Beckie Ross, Anne Pollock, and Four Frames Photo Booth, felt they had grown beyond her ability to maintain properly. A call on social media and Industry email went out asking for volunteers for the Board. Who answered this call to volunteer many hundreds of hours of their time? Two photographers, a DJ, a florist, three decor specialists, a bridal shop owner, two wedding planners, a makeup specialist, a bridal show manager, a cake designer, a venue manager, a magazine editor, an event consultant and we await more! Please contact us at if you would like to volunteer.
